In the first new area you go into from the starting area, there is a glowing vent behind a locked door with lasers on either side. Once you have turned on the power and returned to the area before the Bridge, the doors on the left of the area will be open. After you have turned on the power and progressed to the next area you will have to push a button to open the doors so you can grab the data log.
