William (Bill) Burk taught me how to shoot news. He taught me the technical end of the business. He was the EIC (Engineer in Charge) and Minicam supervisor there. He worked as minicam supervisor at WBBM until 1979 and later transfered to KNXT CBS which later became KCBS in LA. He also made many additions to the minicams that are found today on almost every video camera used. He staffed it with over 10 news crews with the new HL-35 Ikegami minicams and Sony BVU 100 VTR's and the rest is history. My father then created the first minicam shop. A film was made of the process by Bill Burk, the film was sent to the President of CBS in New York, he witnessed the future of news and LIVE Television.LIVE news coverage was born and all the film cameras were retired and shelved.
